SAFER2028 Midterm seminar

The SAFER2028 National Nuclear Safety and Waste Management Research Programme is set to reach a key turning point with its upcoming Midterm Seminar, scheduled to take place in January 2026 as the projects from the three year period are ending and showing their results for the first time for the wider audience.
About SAFER2028
SAFER2028 is a continuation of the series of Finnish government-led nuclear safety (SAFIR) and nuclear waste management safety (KYT) programmes. The objective of the programme is to develop and continuously improve nuclear safety and nuclear waste management safety expertise for solving safety issues relevant to the Finnish use of nuclear energy. The programme supports the capturing of knowledge and its transfer between organisations and generations through carrying out internationally high-level multidisciplinary safety research.
Seminar Highlights
Attendees can expect a dynamic program both at Paasitorni, Helsinki and online. More than 50 projects on nuclear safety topics such as overall safety, reactor, fuel, nuclear waste management and aging will present their cutting edge results. In addition to presentations, the seminar will also feature a poster session on both days where discussion and networking between experts at all levels is enabled. Experiences on the new Doctoral Education Network will also be shared.
Who Should Attend?
The seminar is open to all research organisations, industry professionals, authorities and anyone interested in nuclear safety and nuclear waste management. Please follow safer2028.fi for registration
