Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative technology solutions, has acquired Jacobs’ Critical Mission Solutions business.

As a result, Amentum became the parent company of the Regulatory Support Directorate (RSD), which remains an independent, stand-alone, ring-fenced, autonomous organisation, separated from operations and business activities within the broader Amentum organisation.

The UK Office for Nuclear Regulation has continued to support Amentum/RSD’s membership of ETSON and has re-nominated it as the UK TSO member under the name RSD.  This allows it to establish its international profile.  In support of this, RSD is also seeking UK Government support for membership of the IAEA TSO Forum.  

While RSD is separate to Amentum, it benefits from reach back into Amentum’s pool of technical specialists in areas where it does not have personnel.  This allows it to provide the UK nuclear regulators and other Government ministries with specialist technical safety support.  Currently RSD supports the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator with technical advice to the highest standards.
